dal
24 marzo 2010 al 5 luglio 2010 si terrà
negli Stati Uniti presso il Getty Villa
Malibu, Los Angeles, la mostra “The Aztec Pantheon and the Art of
Empire”.
In occasione di tale evento saranno esposte opere bibliografiche
custodite presso la Biblioteca Medicea Laurenziana di
Firenze.
Celebrating the bicentennial of Mexican
independence, this exhibition reveals a defining moment of cultural
encounter. In the sixteenth century, European exploration and
colonization in the Americas coincided with the Renaissance
rediscovery of classical antiquity, and parallels were routinely
drawn between two great empires—the Aztec and the Roman.
Masterworks of Aztec sculpture, largely from the collections of the
National Museum of Anthropology and the Museo del Templo Mayor in
Mexico City, are the point of departure for a comparative approach
to the monumental art of empire. This exhibition has been organized
by the J. Paul Getty Museum in collaboration with
CONACULTA–INAH.

dal 20 marzo 2010 al 15 agosto 2010
si terrà in Svezia presso
l’Eriksbergshallen di Gothenburg la
mostra “Leonardo-Michelangelo-Raphael. The Masters of the
Renaissance”.
In occasione di tale evento saranno esposte opere bibliografiche
custodite presso la Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale di
Firenze.
The Renaissance was one of the
most revolutionary periods in the history of the world. It was
hugely important to the development of science, culture,
architecture, art, music and civic life. Today, 500 years later, we
still see the traces of the Renaissance around us.
:And There Was Light presents the Italian Renaissance on the basis
of a number of decisive events and people of great importance to
its development. The three masters appear here together in an
exhibition that shows everything from models of inventions and
sculptures to famous, priceless original works of art. Modern
technology is also used to tell the story of the Italian
Renaissance and how the era and the people who lived in it still
exert an influence on us today.
With large spaces and a high ceiling, Eriksbergshallen in
Gothenburg is perfect as the first exhibition space for :And There
Was Light. Beforehand, the venue will be adapted both for a large
influx of visitors and to meet the rigorous security needed to
cover exhibits of this type. After having been shown in Sweden, the
exhibition will tour the world for several years
